bunny and wunny are my children. i love them very much, and i wanted to make a game with them as characters. this game jam's theme was 'mask'. i thought it'd be interesting to interpret that very literally but also a bit liberally. i came up with the idea of my babies masking their feelings, and one way to mask them is literally a mask, a disguise. these evil caretakers won't leave them alone if they can't mask their feelings. bunny and wunny are trapped in a nunnery full of pesky caretakers who always keep them from what they want most.. like candy and adventure. can you help bunny and wunny escape so that they can eat all the candy they want and explore this rad world.

i feel really proud of myself after completing the jam. i challenged myself to solo dev a game in a week, and i made a game, in a week! i can't even sleep after staying up late wrapping it up. i feel totally exhausted, but my energy bar is beyond full. making a game takes a lot of perseverance. the first day of working in unreal engine, after my design day, it felt hopeless. i wanted to make a two-player game with separate input for each character, but for some reason that is freaakingg *impossssiblee* in unreal engine. well it definitely isn't impossible, but i spent a full day unsuccessfully figuring that out.. heh. tbh i think it was a good thing in the end though. the character switching with a single player controller, which is the implementation i switched to, actually feels really fun. and the failure at the start of the game jam makes this victory taste sweeter yummy yummy😋😋😋. one dynamic of the game which i really enjoy is that bunny is essentially a caretaker for wunny in the gameplay. it feels so fitting that in order to avoid the caretakers' wrath you have to take care of the children yourself.
